Inspired by watercolour wash and sway techniques, Swae is an atmospheric and immersive bluetooth speaker intended for Art Galleries.
Swae complements the featured artwork through the speaker’s fluid and calming design, drawing upon the idea of escapism. Allowing the viewer to be entranced whilst viewing the art if the artist desires a soundtrack to accompany their work.
Swae’s ombreing colour’s visually represent watercolour techniques while the form expresses the delicate elegance of watercolour painting.
The elegance of watercolour is further enhanced through Swae’s motion, consisting of circular swaying around its metal base, allowing the music to resonate and reflect throughout the gallery. The movement occurs upon a gentle touch by the user.
Swae was fabricated using 3D CAD modelling through Rhino 6 for 3D printing, CNC metal lathing from a CAD model and precise blending of spray paint.
‘Swae’ was photographed within {Suite} gallery in Wellington New Zealand next to the artwork ‘I Saw You’ by artist Bruce Connew. Permission to photo-graph was received from Gallery Curator David Alsop. More details about {Suite} Gallery can be found here.
